Obituary of Hilda Louise Otey Gill Womack

Hilda Louise Womack 90 of Fincastle went to be with the Lord on Sunday January 25, 2015. On March 29, 1924, Lewis Leggion Otey and Annie Louise Watson Otey welcomed their first-born child, Hilda Louise Otey. She attended Ashbury Elementary School and graduated from Fincastle High School. Hilda loved Botetourt County, especially the Pleasant Hill and the Pleasant Dale areas. She was an excellent seamstress, making and restoring older quilts. Hilda was preceded by her loving husband John Thomas Womack, her parents, a sister, Juanita Otey Volk, brother, Charlie L. Otey and her stepson, James T. Womack. Surviving are a sister, Maxine O. Mitchell of Bedford; a daughter, Susan Gill Dick and husband Jim; son, Morris M. Gill, Jr. and wife Elayne Garrett; daughter, Linda Gill Broyles all of Botetourt; a step daughter, Mary Womack Bodine and husband Randy of Fredrick, MD; granddaughters, Stephanie Gill Tito, Laura Gill Neff and husband Jonah. Also left to miss her and loved her, Hilda’s church family at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where she was a long time member. Family would like to thank her special friends, Sue and Sam Sprinkle, Charlotte Lee, Kathy and Phil Buchanan, Gwen Peters, Oretha Faulkner, and Judy L. Nichols. They would also like to give a special thanks to the Carilion Hospice Team, Regina, Debby, Robin, Amy, Clara, and Julie for all they have done for her. A celebration of life service will be held 11:00am Thursday January 29, 2015 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Roy Thomas officiating. In lieu of flowers, Hilda requested memorials be made to the church, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 4930 Country Club Road, Troutville, VA. 24175.
