Obituary of June Vance Meador

June Vance Meador, 76, of Roanoke passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014. She was born in Warriormines, West Virginia to the late Herman and Cansas Vance. She made her home in Roanoke where she had a distinguished career in banking for 43 years beginning with Colonial American Bank, Crestar Bank and retiring from Sun Trust Bank. She was a long time member of Northview United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Randall Lee Meador, sisters, Nancy Carol Vance, Edith Smith, Ruth Patterson, and Jean Gallimore, and a brother, Sherrill Vance. June was much loved by all who knew her but most of all, she will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law and doting "grandma" and she will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, Sherwood Meador, Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Mike Walters; and much loved grandchildren, Eric and Brooke Walters; sister-in-law, Jaynne Vance, nieces, Dana Rodgers, and Teri Horn, nephew, Mark Patterson, and numerous special friends. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the Kazim Shrine Temple Transportation Fund or to the Building Fund at Northview United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by Pastor Joe Klotz. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
