Obituary of George Law

Please share a memory of George to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
George Clay Law, "Preacher Law", 84, of Roanoke, has departed this life and instantly arrived in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." He slept in his physical body and awoke with a heavenly body in his eternal home. He saw his Savior he longed to see Face to Face and shouted "GLORY". He was preceded in death by his parents Worthie P. Law and Ruth Johnston Law; siblings James Law, Russell Law, Wash Law, Lillie Barnard, Curtis Law, Ruth Setliff, Hazel Kirks; and son Laurence Worth "Larry" Law. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946 and again from 1948 to 1952. He was called of God to preach, and served his Lord in many churches over the last fifty years. His longest ministry was at Chamblissburg Baptist Church for 22 years. His desire was to serve the Lord in overseas missions work. Never being able to go himself full time, he supported the spread of the Gospel worldwide. He leaves his dearest friend on earth, his wife of 60 years, Lois Parmelee Law. He also leaves his family, his "Pride and Joy," Debbie & Dale VanKirk, Susan & Bill Flowers, Robert & Nancy Law, Ruth Law, John & Leigh Law, Paul & Renee' Law and Mary & Jim Sheridan. Also left behind are his grandchildren, his "grandbrats," Tim & Heather Flowers, Philip & Angela Flowers, Kristen & Aaron Hoxie, Jeremy & Mandy Law, Anna Law, Julie Keeler, Meghan Law, Ethan Law, Jacob Law, Joy Law, Sydney Law, Josiah Sheridan, Micah Sheridan, Lydia Sheridan, Grace Law and Isaiah Sheridan. His great-grandchildren are Tyler Hoxie, Hayden Hoxie, Daniel Flowers and Hayley Jo Hoxie. Additional survivors are siblings Kermit Law, Jane Duckett, Troy Law, Larnie Law, Nina Pendelton, and numerous other relatives. His residence for the last two years was at Our Lady of the Valley Retirement Community. He finished his earthly course, and kept the faith and was welcomed home with a "Well Done." The family would like to express their gratitude to all the medical personnel who have cared for him through the years. A special thanks to his physician and friend, Dr. Richard Newton. In lieu of flowers and to honor his request, contributions can be made to "The George Law Book Fund" P.O. Box 308011, Cleveland Ohio 44103-8011. A service honoring George and his Lord will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at Shenandoah Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Fair View Cemetery.
