Dorothy Mason Hollett, 88, of Daleville (formerly of Roanoke) claimed the promise of the Resurrection on Friday, February 18, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Cade Hollett, sons Donald Eugene Hollett, and James Cade Hollett, and daughter Linda Marie Hollett, sisters and brothers-in-law, Mabel M. And Posey Hancock, Helen M. and David McKalips, brother, John R. Mason, half sisters and brothers-in-law, Margarette and Willie Ingram, Eva and Guy Young, Bessie and Gene Jones, Augusta and Edward Robertson, Blanche and Wallace Bishop and half brother and sister-in-law, Claude and Elizabeth Mason. Mrs. Hollett was a Charter Member of Summerdean Church of the Brethren and retired from Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Surviving are her sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Clarence Moyers of Harrisonburg; sister-in-law, Alice C. Mason of Roanoke; daughters-in-law, Sarah Wright Hollett of Daleville; Norma Smith Hollett of Midlothian; grandchildren, Emily H. and Lewie Pitts, Angela H. and Chris Traynham, James Brian Hollett; great grandchildren, Lola Kathryn Hollett, Zoe Grace Pitts, and Cade Leon Traynham. The family would like to offer a special thanks to the nurses and the staff at Carrington Place at Botetourt for the wonderful care they provided for Dorothy the last three years. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Kidney Foundation or to the American Cancer Society. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, February 21, 2011 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by Richard Balmer. A graveside service will be conducted 3 p.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2011 in Sherwood Memorial Park.
