Obituary of Rachel Thomasson

Rachel Hope Nichols Thomasson, 82, of Roanoke, VA went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 5, 2011. She was a member of Huntington Court United Methodist Church and retired from Norfolk Western Railroad in 1987 after many years of service. Rachel was a dedicated mother, grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her loving son Barry Lee Pendrey; husband Walter E Thomasson; brother Derise Nichols; sisters Betty Jo Bryant and Hazel Gregory; and parents L. F. and Nina Susan Nichols. Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter Nancy Pendrey Cronise and husband David; granddaughter Kimberly Bales and husband John; daughter-in-law Suzanne Phillips and husband Fred; sister-in-law Vivian Nichols; three nieces and two nephews. The family would like to sincerely thank the entire staff of Richfield Memory Care and Enrichment Center as well as the staff of 10 West at Roanoke Memorial Hospital for their love and care shown to Rachel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 8, 2011 with Rev Doug Paysour and Rev Jeffrey Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
