Obituary of Clarence Strickland

Clarence Michael (Mike) Strickland, 74, of Smith Mountain Lake passed away Friday, January 21, 2011. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Strickland and a son, Roger Garrett Strickland. Mr. Strickland served with the Roanoke City Police Department for two years and retired after thirty years of service with the Virginia State Police. He was an avid Nascar fan. Surviving are his daughter, Vicki Booe of Smith Mountain Lake; son, Buddy Strickland and wife Lonna of Crowley Lake, California; grandson, Michael Garrett Booe; great grandson, Michael Lee Booe; brother David Strickland and wife Betty Sue; sister, Mary Sue Strickland all of Roanoke; and devoted and best friends, Robby and Patty Lane and their son Cameron; and Al Hillman, and Mike's devoted K-9 companion, Rudy. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. Interment will be in Stonewall Memory Gardens at a later date. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
