Obituary of Anthony Sowers

Anthony C. Sowers, 28, of Salem went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 3, 2010. He was a graduate of Glenvar High School. Anthony served with the United States Army in Iraq and at the time of his death was serving in the National Guard Reserve. He was an employee of Superior Exterminating. Surviving are his wife, Amanda Sowers, children, Jakob, Kaiden, Madison, Karson, Izak, and Morgahnn Sowers all of the home; mother and step father, Terry and Bill Ford; of Salem; Father and step mother, Cecil (Jr.) and Sarah Sowers; of Shawsville; brother, Joseph Sowers and wife Aynsley of Roanoke; sister, Alicia Ford also of Roanoke; Grandparents, Billy and Maudie Epperly of Salem; Father in law and mother in law, Craig and Debbie Flowers of Albany, Georgia; step brother, Bradley Foley of Elliston; step sister, Rebecca Bell of Christiansburg; brothers in law, Jesse Flowers of Montgomery, Alabama; sisters in law, Christina Hypes and husband Stevie; and Lydia Flowers all of Albany, Georgia; God mother, Gina Johnson of Salem. As well as a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Military Family Support Center P.O. Box 1122 Salem, Virginia 24153. Funeral Services will be conducted 2 pm Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. Interment will follow in First Baptist Church Cemetery, Ellistion, Va. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service at Simpson Funeral Home 366-0707.
