Was blessed to meet Mr. Lackey last summer for the first time and learned so much from him. I never knew there were prisoner of war camps in VA or that the farmers were able to use their help. He also told me about the Bretheran being the first church that baptized by immersion. This was such a great day for me. You all were so blessed to have him in your lives for so long. Hugs and prayers to Janet and family.

It would take many pages and lots of writing to recount all the memories I have of Uncle Stone. I enjoyed all the time we had together over the last 50 plus years. There are many standouts. Such as the time I watch with excitment when he pulled up several pine trees behind the Washington Heights Brethern Church in Roaonke with his "G" John Deere. That had to have been in the late 1950's. And the pride I had when some of my teenage friends who were with me were stunnded by his great strength as he would hold two 5 gallon cans filled with kerosene straight out at the same time (one in his left & the other in his right). Also enjoyed hearing all the stories about his Uncle Cain Lackey & his father Cal Lackey from an era well before I was born. I'm going to miss Stone very much! Bobby Lackey

I will miss all the good stories Grandaddy used to tell. About a year and a half ago, he told me about the paper route he used to have when he was a little boy--and still remembered the names of everyone on the route! I loved to hear him laugh, and have memories of him reading the funny papers to me and bouncing me on his knee as a little girl. I am sorry not to be able to be there, but my heart is there. Love you, Grandaddy!
