I visited WDBJ about twice a year and counted on that "How are you, Darlin' " and big hug from Doris. She was a bright light and our world is a little dimmer without her in it. My sincerest sympathy.

My deepest heart felt sympathy to Robbie, Lisa, and "Puddy!" I know you will mis her and her enthusiasm and love for you which she always showed! She always made the best of every situation as she traveled on her life's journey. I will never forget her laugh and "gift of gab." May she rest in peace! She is one of the GOOD ONES! SO VERY SORRY! Lovingly, Carol Mc

I have thought about Doris many times over the past many years, actually daily. Can't recall exactly when she retired from the VA Hospital but when she did she willed to me an antique desk lamp that I continue to use today. She was such fun to be around and as a new social worker at the hospital she helped me make my way through the system. What sweet precious memories you must have of her, for I share some of those with you. Prayers and thoughts, Tracie Dickson, VA Hospital social worker

Doris was "one of a kind". She had a great sense of humor and a great smile and laugh to go with it. She was also a very talented person - making dolls for charity, crafts and other projects. She seemed to have limitless energy! I know she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Till we meet again my friend.

Doris was like a second Mom to me during my teenage years. Her daughters were my best buddies and I loved hanging with them. We had so many good times. She always made me feel so welcome and always made me feel part of the family. When I used to sleep over, I used to sleep on the floor between the girls twin beds. Us girls would get the giggles until Doris would yell for us to go to sleep. If you heard that tone in her voice, you knew Doris wasn't messing around! We shared some good times together. Doris, I will miss you. I will remember all the good times. And your laugh - I loved your laugh. Here's to you, Doris! Thanks for the memories!

Doris was such a joy to everyone who knew her. She brought us so much laughter here at the station. We have truly lost a beloved member of our WDBJ7 family. She always told it like it is, and we loved her for that. I will miss her... My thoughts and prayers are going out to her family right now. With love, Kimberly McBroom

I went up front with Doris almost everyday after my cut ins just to chat. she got me through many years at WDBJ7. I'm so sorry for your loss....she was definitely a firecracker at work. Loved her dearly. she always talked about her kids and grand kids. I felt like a part of her family. The laughs we had will keep her memory bright for the rest of my life.
