Please share a memory of Jeanette to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jeannette Lambert Peabody, 77, of Roanoke, VA, died peacefully of a long illness at her residence on December 20, 2023. Jeannette was the third child and only daughter of Maurice and Yvonne (Bourdeau) Lambert, both of North Andover, Massachusetts.. She is predeceased by both of her parents and her beloved older brothers, Paul M. Lambert and Raymond H. Lambert.

Born in Lawrence on February 11, 1946, Jeannette was raised in North Andover. After graduating in the Class of '64, she moved to Boston, where she met and married Stephen Chandler Peabody, from 1969 until 1983, with whom they had one son. Having moved to Hingham in 1973, she resided there for forty years. She enjoyed living by the ocean, where she could watch the birds and wildlife from her porch.

After receiving her Bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts Boston in 1986, she worked for the WIC program within the Massachusetts Department of Public Health until her retirement in 2009. After moving to Roanoke, VA, in 2013, she lived her final years reading books and enjoying the warmer weather.

Jeannette was known for her love of reading, Scrabble as well as her cats. Over the years she took in many strays and then volunteered at the Quincy Animal Shelter in her later years. Jeannette was a peaceful, generous person who loved life, her friends and large extended family, but most of all, her son.

Jeannette is survived by her son James Lambert Peabody of Somerville, MA. She also leaves behind two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Lambert (Paul) of Sandy, UT and Amy Lambert (Ray) of Stafford, PA. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews and their children.

Jeannette will be cremated and a celebration of life will take at a later date. Please consider making a donation in Jeannette's memory at QuincyAnimalShelter.
