Obituary of Frank Howell
Franklin “Frank” Hancock Howell, 75, of Daleville, passed away, Sunday, January 14, 2024 following a brief illness. Born on October 3, 1948 in West Virginia, he graduated from Gap Mills High School in 1966. Frank went on to work at Applied Extrusion Technologies, formerly known as Hercules. After their closing he went to work at Norfolk Southern Railroad until his retirement.
Frank accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and was a baptized member of Fincastle Baptist Church. He also loved sports and cheering for the Duke Blue Devils Basketball team and the Dallas Cowboys, James Madison Dukes, and Lord Botetourt Cavaliers’ football teams. He loved to take long walks and could make a friend anywhere he went. He coached soccer, football and baseball for his children’s sports teams. Those who knew him would describe him as a loving husband, a devoted father, and a friend to anyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents Noah and Aileen Howell and Aunt Kate Wylie. Surviving is his wife of 27 years Susie Howell. His children Baylee Howell (Greg), Doug Howell, and Connie (Greg) Mays. His grandchildren Chris (Kelsey) Howell, Taylor Howell, Matthew Howell, Faith Howell, and Evan Mays. He also leaves behind a great- grandson, Everett Franklin, his “hot shot,” and his very special pup, Ellie Belle. Services will be held Sunday, January 21, 2024 at 3 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home Peters Creek Road Chapel, with Pastor Kevin Cummings officiating and assisted by Pastor Mitch Turner.
