Obituary of Ellen Hardy Carawan

The morning of Thursday, November 16th, 2023 Ellen Marie Carawan, age 65, of Salem, VA , left her earthly home and entered into the presence of the Lord. She had courageously fought stage 4 Ovarian Cancer for over a year, never losing hope or her faith.

Ellen was an incredible wife, mother, aunt, and friend to many. She was a member of CommUNITY Church and an Employee of Green Ridge Baptist Church. Ellen was a strong, Godly woman who exemplified what it meant to be a Proverbs 31 woman. Words cannot express how much she will be missed by many but we value the love and lessons she taught all of us over the years.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents Helen B. Hardy and Robert S. Hardy, step-parents Archie Hicks and Sadie Hardy, brother Barry Hardy, and many beloved pets.

Surviving are her husband Dan; daughte,r Kayla (John); siblings, Robert II (Bobby) (Carmela), Victor (fiancée LaDonna Street), and Richard Hardy; nieces and nephews, Sherri Hardy, Robert Hardy III (Ashley), Deanne Houser (Rick), Traci Hardy (fiancé Matt Price), Traci, Dean, and Andrew Zoumas; dogs Taco and Guac, and a very special friend and sister-in-Christ, Linda Perdue

 A Celebration of Life service will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 19, 2023 at CommUNITY Church 1923 East Main St. Salem, VA.  Dr. Tom McCracken officiating.
