Joan Brown Akers of Roanoke passed away Friday, June 2, 2023.  She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Frances Scearce Brown, a brother, Sandy Brown and granddaughter, Lindsay Shepard.

Surviving is her fiance, Hugh Myers; children, Troy J. Akers (Kellie), Monica Shepard (Gary), Joshua S. Akers (Lynn Forbes), Calvin Myers, and Crystal Roberts; grandchildren, Tyler Akers (Sarah), Chad Shepard, Parker Shepard, Alisa Sale (Johnny), Charlotte Akers, Megan Forbes, Jonathan and Sidney Roberts; great grandchildren, Skylar, Charlie and Hudson Akers; sister, Brenda Jones; and brother, Wallace Brown.

In lieu of memorials the family requests that memorials be made to New Life Christian Ministries.

 A celebration of Joan's life will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at the Electric Road Chapel of Simpson Funeral Home 3912 Electric Road.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Internment will take place at Franklin Memorial Park.
