"How, then, can I tell you of my love?
Strong as the eagle, soft as the dove, Patient as the pine tree that stands in the sun and whispers to the wind- 'You are the one!"

I thought of you today but that is nothing new, I thought about you yesterday and days before that too. I think of you in silence, I often speak your name. All I have is memories and a picture in a frame. Your memory is a keepsake, from which I will never part. God has you in his arms. I have you in my heart...♥ I miss you terribly! Happy Birthday! I miss you so much! Your B-day is tomorrow and I hope you have a wonderful day in heaven and catch a few fish. It isn't the same without you here to call and check on me everyday. I love you!

It's hard for me to imagine another Friday night on the front porch without Tom. He was the center of our neighborhood, the one who knew and gathered everyone. Maybe it was his smile or his welcoming "come on up" or perhaps it was his stories. In the second block of Arbutus Avenue every Friday night during the summer on my front porch we would gather for a glass of wine and conversation. Tom loved those evenings. The picture that I uploaded from the Friday evening just before the 50th anniversary party is mostly of the Hunt Family and neighbors. Unfortunately, Tom is in the corner and not very visible. That was his chair, the white rocking chair which now sits empty. Friday nights will never be the same.

Thank you Tom, for being you! When I told people about my friends ‘Tom and Patty’ I always said - “They are just such GOOD PEOPLE! There is no other way I know to describe them! And that doesn’t even begin to describe them!” TOM (and I include Patty in all of this, but will speak of Tom right now) was definitely one of the best ‘people’ I have ever known - in every way. Knowing Tom has made me a better person because I would never want him to be disappointed in me. He always made me smile (and laugh!). I always felt good when he was around. I never heard him say a negative thing about anyone. And he was always there to help anyone and everyone! And he was so much more. But everyone knows all of this about Tom. We could go on and on and never capture that wonderful spirit of his!! And I KNOW that he is up there now, looking down on his family and friends, with a smile on his face (and a funny comment!) “Thanks Tom, for just being you!” (It is important to note that he and Patty drove me from Roanoke to Harrisonburg to meet and pick up my rescue dog, Mika.) What a great trip! And I appreciated them so much for going out of their way to help me so I could hold Mika on the way home. And as you can see from the picture - Mika loved Tom! (And she’s a very picky dog!)

Well Tommy,we are all wondering who is going to step up and fill the enormous void your passing has left in the family and at the Friday night porch wine gatherings. We certainly have a lot of memories and stories to tell about you. A lot of them happening following the service last Thursday. Some stories heard by the younger members, neices and grandkids, for the first time even and wondering how in the world you even made it to your seventies. I'll watch over Patty, and not do too many more zip lines, but we do have 9 more adventures to accomplish. Try to limit the manhattens with the old master. I have a strange feeling they might have a grandiose effect at that altitude. Oh, and by the way I know who killed JFK but would you let me know if UFO's are true? Love you and miss you lots already. Your favorite sis in law Donna

Thomas L. Hunt was my father. I always wanted to be like him. When I was younger I would look at his yearbook from ranger school and think, "I want to be like him." I eventually joined the USAF and retired after 23 years. I would watch as he would lead our family through good times and bad; and it always seemed like there were more good times than bad. I had my own family and tried to be just like him. I would watch the way he easily made friends and think, "I want to be like him." Like most sons, I thought the world of my father...I still do and I still want to be just like him.

Patty, Marge, Jiggs, Eddie & all your families; Dot & I send our deepest condolences. So many fond memories that I don't know where to start but it all goes back to the day in the '50s when I discovered that a new exciting family had bought the old McFarland place up on Rt. 22. The rest of course is history.I had a long phone call yesterday with Mick Kent reminding him of some of our adventures with Tom "back in the day". Tom will be well remembered by all of us who knew him. He lived life to the fullest which is everyones dream. Our thoughts are with you all in this time of loss. Remember all the joy that Tom brought to you. Paul n' Dot S.

I miss you so much it hurts, Uncle Tom. The last time we spoke, you promised we'd go fishing this spring... I'm still holding you to that. Until then, stay out of trouble my friend.
