Obituary of Patricia Ann Hampton Bolt

Patricia Ann Hampton Bolt, 81, of Roanoke passed away on March 19, 2021.  Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Thelma Hampton of Galax, VA and brother, Don Hampton of Roanoke, VA. 

Pat was born on July 11, 1939 in Galax, VA.  She graduated from Galax High School in 1957, received her Bachelor’s degree from Longwood College, and a Master’s Degree from Radford University. 

Pat worked as a Professor at Virginia Western Community College from 1975 - 2001.  She was an Advisor for the International Association of Administrative Professionals (formerly Professional Secretaries International) from 1979 - 2001.     

Pat loved gardening, farming life in Grayson County, singing and harmonizing with her husband, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.  Pat was a strong Christian woman who was a member of Cave Spring United Methodist Church since 1972.  Pat created the Mother’s Day Out program and enjoyed serving others in the community. 

Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Charles (Charlie) Bolt; children Julie (Rob) Martin, Laura (Scott) Leonard; her grandchildren, Rebecca, Sarah, and Will; nieces Chris Hampton, Carey Hampton, and nephew, Sam Hampton.  She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.    

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

The entire Bolt family would like to thank Dr. Lisa Deyerle (Cave Spring Physicians), Amedisys Home Health (Jenny Wilson), Amedisys Hospice (Matt Gephardt, Bernita Claxton, and Casey Taylor), Leading Transportation (Douglas Taborn, Angelina Garcia, and Harold Brown), Jeanne’s Elderly Care Staff, Carilion Wound Care Center (Dr. Slemp, Carol, and Daymion), Aseracare Hospice (Jennifer Waldrop, Haleigh Hearn, and Shanna Witcher), nurses Kim Dove and Ilona Marshall for the gracious and loving care that they provided to Pat.  A heartfelt thanks goes to special friends who have helped Charlie, Pat, and family during this journey:  Cathy Caddy, Donna Abbatello, Mary Johnson, and Joyce Music. 

There will be a Chapel Service at 2 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road Saturday, March 27, 2021. The family will receive friends following the service until 4:00PM.  Burial will be private. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home. (540)366-0707.
