Rick was simply one of the greatest human beings I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Times we spent on the water talking will never be forgotten and always treasured. Prayers to his wife Judy, son and daughter and rest of the family.

I knew Rick when fishing with him in East Gate Bass, such a kind man, respectable and loved to fish. When I moved back to NY I would always touch base with Greg Byrd on the club and would always ask him how did Rick do. He will be missed by all. So sorry to his family and friends. Keep your line tight Rick.

What a beautifully written obituary to a kind and good man. Rick was a great guy, and he loved his life and his wonderful family. I had the honor of working with his wife Judy for many years, and I know the strong bond that they have had throughout their life together. I express my deepest sympathy to Judy and Stevie and Deanie, and wish you peace during this most difficult time.

Rick was one of my best friends. I will never forget our fishing trips, long talks about fishing, our frequent breakfasts at Famous Anthony's, and just the waves as I drove up the street.
Rick was an exceptional person and friend and will be greatly missed.
I count it an honor to have known and been friends with him.
My condolences to Judy and the family.

I grew up with Robbie “Duke”, & Ricky Marmaduke. I’m sure Duke & I we’re a real pain for the “Big Guys” like Rick who we looked up to. Ricky was always one of the most kind guys I knew. Ricky was a great guy, and I’m very sad that he has passed.

Rick was a beloved and respected member of the Roanoke/Bedford Single Action "Cowboy" Shooting Group as well as the 4-H Shooting Club. Everyone came away a richer and better person for having known him. As quoted in "Open Range" and "Outlaw Josey Wales":
"He sure wasn't one to complain. He woke with a smile, seemed like he could keep it there all day. Kind of man that'd say "good morning" and mean it, whether it was or not. To tell you the truth, Lord, if there was a gentler soul, I have never seen him. Well, Lord, you got yourself a good man."
"He never turned his back on his folks or his kind. I rode with him ... and I got no complaints."

The death of a loved one is traumatic and difficult to deal with but God, whose name is Jehovah (Psalm 83:18) is far more powerful than death. He promises to destroy this enemy, death, once and for all. The Bible teaches: "The last enemy death, is to be brought to nothing." (1 Corinthians 15:26) The resurrection hope tells us about Jehovah's love and undeserved kindness for humans. Please visit jw.org for more words of comfort.
