Obituary of Harry Douglas Cheney

Harry Douglas Cheney, 81, of Roanoke went to be with the Lord on Thursday April 11, 2019. His wife, Michele K. Cheney, and brothers, Charles B. Cheney and Richard E. Cheney, preceded him in death. 

 

  Harry retired from Norfolk Southern Railway after 48 years of service. He was a member of Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church as well as the Knights of Columbus, Council 562. He was an avid collector of cookie jars, coins, and antiques. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend who will be dearly missed.

 

  Left to cherish his memory are his daughters Amy Cheney, Tricia Cheney, Nikki Aikens and husband Tim; 8 grandchildren, Whitney, Zachary and wife Alexis, Ashlynn, Noah, Sean, Tristan, Trinity and Tamzyn; 1 great-grandchild, Rylan. Addition to one brother, Thomas J. Cheney and wife Peg and a host of other relatives and friends.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Knights of Columbus Kovar, c/o Jeffrey Befumo, Treasurer, 16933 Four Seasons Drive, Dumfries, Virginia 22025 in his memory.

 

A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday April 27, 2019 at 2:00pm in Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church. Inurnment will be private. Family will receive friends Friday April 26, 2019 from 5:00-8:00pm at Simpson Funeral Home.
