Shirley took heart in all the simple pleasures each day. Remember all the good things you had together. She was a treasure. We will recognize her in all the obvious places. She will continue to walk beside us each day- unseen, unheard, still loved, forever missed, always a part of us, always in our hearts. We wish for each of you a smile for every tear.

To the Marshall Family,
In times of loss, we are most helped by genuine comfort, one of the greatest sources of comfort, when offered at the right time, is a consideration of Jehovah’s promises for the dead. Bible tells us that the hour is coming, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and they will be resurrected (John 5:28,29). We know that Jehovah is the God of all comfort, for he said: “I—I myself am the One that is comforting you people.” (Isaiah 51:12) Many who believe in Jehovah the God of the Bible are significantly empowered to cope with grief by embracing the hope of seeing their dead loved ones again. This wonderful video can help you to further understand the wonderful hope our loving Father Jehovah provided for us.

There's a saying that follows that describes Shirley and her sense of adventure-'(Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty, well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out, and proclaim, "Wow! What a ride!" )' Shirley lived a life of strength, love, hope, and grace. She knew happiness was not only something we create in our mind, but also store in our hearts. It was about waking up in the morning, beginning the day, counting your blessings, praying, accepting what comes, and making the best of whatever you've got.
Shirley was one of the most talented, intelligent women we knew. She shared her childhood memories and helped us make our own in Sugar Hill and in Lynchburg. She tied the present to the past. She saw us at our worst and at our best and she still loved us all. She was a friend to all she met, a listener as well as a plethora of information. It didn't matter how much time had elapsed seeing her or speaking with her, you always knew she'd light up with open arms-a friend forever, not just an aunt to call by name. Shirley looked for the beauty in everything. We loved her dearly.
Tara, your Mom left such a beautiful legacy in you and your family. Although we will always miss her, she will remain in our hearts. Trust God through the tears. Keep your faith, family, and friends close. We are so very sorry. You all are in our thoughts and prayers.
