Obituary of James Edward Langhorn
James Edward Langhorn, 53, of Roanoke, Va. passed peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, surrounded by his family and close friends. He was born on November 4, 1964 to the late Oscar and Juanita Leftwich Langhorn.
James worked at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for 22 years and was then employed by Medtronic, Inc. until his health failed.
Surviving and cherishing his memory are his son, Tyler James Langhorn; and daughter, Gabrielle Nicole Langhorn. Since his diagnosis in February 2016, they walked by his side as he fiercely battled cancer and provided care for him until the end. Also surviving are his ex-wife, cargiver and Mother of his children, Sharon Regina Langhorn; one sister, Juanita (Harold) Lewis; six brothers, Oscar (caregiver), Roland (Lyndetta), Ronald (Kathy), William (Cynthia), Thomas (Lesley) and Barry Langhorn; adopted brother, Robert Ellis; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and very close friends and co-workers.
The family would like to thank Dr. William Fintel, Dr. Andrew Fintel, and the staff of Blue Ridge Cancer Center (Salem, VA), the nursing staff of 6 West at Lewis Gale Hospital, and Medi Home Health Hospice for their care and loving acts of kindness during his illness.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday January 6, 2018 at Simpson Funeral Home. Family will receive friends Friday January 5, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
