Obituary of Terry Wayne Cundiff
Terry Wayne Cundiff passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. Wayne was born May 21, 1950 and grew up in Franklin County. He graduated from Randolph Macon Military Academy, Ferrum College, and East Tennessee State University.
After college he returned to Rocky Mount and worked as President of the family business, Cundiff Lumber, for 25 years. Wayne then moved to Roanoke to pursue real estate, co-owning Park Place Realtors for 18 years. Following his retirement, Wayne enjoyed his part-time greeting position at Home Depot where he loved recognizing so many familiar faces. Wayne was a member of the Rocky Mount United Methodist Church and actively served his community over the years as President of the Rocky Mount Jaycees, Rocky Mount Town Council, leadership positions at RVAR and most recently as Chairman of Roanoke City BZA.Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Terry Ford and Thelma Cundiff. He is survived by his son Anthony Cundiff (Faye); daughter Lorrie Anne Watson (Cannon) former wife Valerie Eagle; and her daughters Jessi and Kelli; grandchildren Ethan and Sophie Watson and Ashlee Cundiff, siblings Phyllis Lavinder (Conrad), Sarah Bowles and Brian Cundiff (Joy); along with nephews, a niece and numerous cousins.Wayne was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed renovating homes in Old Southwest. He was known for his storytelling and throwing great parties and will be missed by his friends and family.Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home on Monday, May 15, 2017, visitation will be at 10 a.m. and memorial service at 11:30 a.m.
