I learned of Sheri's passing only now, too late to attend the service.
Sheri was my personal assistant when I was Dean of Arts & Sciences (1978-1985), and the first person at VT with whom I interacted daily. She was the most wonderful assistant anyone could hope for, incredibly efficient, thoughtful, professional.
Any good I did as Dean is owing in considerable part to Sheri's devoted help, often guidance as much as help.
