Richard A. (Dick) Morefield, 73, of Roanoke passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 2, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace and Roby Morefield; two infant sisters; and one brother. Dick was a 1962 graduate of Pennington High School and a 1976 graduate of Lincoln Memorial University. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966 with one tour in Vietnam. Dick was of the Baptist faith and a Master Mason with Miles Lodge # 165. He loved fresh silver queen corn, white peaches and music by Elvis Presley. He enjoyed feeding the deer, squirrels, and birds but most of all his loyal dogs. He always looked forward to his Thursday golf games with the "old boys". Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Diana; daughter, Candace Morefield and husband Chris Cobbs. No words can express the love and pride that he had for his grandchildren, Luke and Abigail Griffin. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Dick's favorite organizations: the Salvation Army 724 Dale Avenue S.E. Roanoke, VA. 24013 or to the Lee Animal Rescue, Attention: Audrey Osborne 464 A J Osborne Highway Blackwater, VA. 24221. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. A graveside service will be conducted 3 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2016 in Lee Memorial Gardens, Pennington Gap, VA by the Rev. Paul Davis. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
