Obituary of Edward Lee Loving

Edward Lee Loving 84 of Roanoke went to be with our Lord on Friday September 4, 2015. He was born in Covington, VA. on February 28, 1931 to the late Lee L. Loving and Eleanor Shifflett Loving. He was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Lee, Jr., a sister, Carolyn Loving and an infant grandson.
He is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 60 years, Betty Campbell Loving; also survived by two daughters, Julie Loving Seay and husband Martin, and Debra Loving Brugh and husband Steven; grandsons, Landon Brugh and fiancée Kelly Rhoades, and Avery Brugh; sister, Florence Loving Sheftelman and husband, David; niece, Deborah Racey and a nephew, Ronald Sheftelman; three godsons, Bryan Buchholtz, Cameron Buchholtz, and Tmothy Buchholtz.
Edward was a devoted Christian, son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean conflict as a Staff Sergeant with the 92nd Bomb Wing. After his military service, he enjoyed a long career with IBM as a Field-Engineering Specialist and retired after 32 years.
Edward was a founding member or St. Thomas of Canterbury Anglican Church, where he served on the vestry and held many other offices. He continued to be a faithful worker at St. Thomas until his health began to fail. He was also an avid outdoorsman and loved being with nature.
The family would like to thank some very faithful friends and supporters, the Rev. Don Poff, Laura Wilborn, Shirley Boon, Charles and Betty Jo Manning, Alice Huff, Patti Gilley, and Gentle Shepard Hospice, especially Kim, Joanna, Pam, and Rosa for the special care given to Edward over these last few years.
Funeral service will be conducted at St. Thomas Church at 11:00am Tuesday September 8, 2015 with Rev. Don Poff officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem, VA. The family will receive friends on Monday September 7, 2015 from 5:00-8:00pm at Simpson Funeral Home. Friends may send their condolences to the family by visiting www.simpsonfuneral.com.
