Obituary of Martin Glenn Peters

Martin Glenn Peters, 88, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord, Monday, May 11, 2015 at his home on Mason Mill Road. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents Harry & Elsie Peters as well as sisters, Edith Penfield and Ann Wright. Surviving is his faithful and loving wife of 68 years, Florence A. Peters; their son, Dale Peters of Salem, and his four daughters and son-in-laws, Sue & Victor Morris of Crozet, Va., Rebecca & Roger Wilson of Thaxton, Va., Beth & Dennis Duff of Salem, Va., and Martha & Jon Crawford of Virginia Beach, Va., and his siblings, Alvin Peters of Hot Springs, Catherine Haskins of Forest, Va., and Frances Harris of Lynchburg, Va. Also of great joy in his life were his 7 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren; Glenn’s entire career of 42 years as a train dispatcher with CSX Railroad, started on D-Day in Crozet, VA. He served in WWII, in both the Pacific and European areas, during which time he served in General MacArthur’s office. Glenn also witnessed the surrender of a Japanese General to MacArthur. Glenn was a member of New Life Christian Ministries, and a supporter of the New Life for Youth Ministry and Advancing Native Missions. A memorial service will be held, Friday, May 15, 2015 at 1 p.m. at New Life Christian Ministries with Pastor’s Walter L. Wood & Tony Atkinson officiating. Glenn was a great lover of Christ and a student of the Word. We rest assured that all of his questions have been answered and he has received the welcome of the Lord, “Well done thou good & faithful servant!”
