Obituary of Agnes Genevieve Hamilton

With a heavy heart but feeling so, so, lucky to have had her in our lives, we share with you that Ms. Agnes G. Hamilton, died peacefully, on Monday, April 27, 2015, at the age of 82, surrounded by her loved ones. Agnes is predeceased by her parents, B.F. and Agnes Hamilton, a sister, Mae Ayers (Stuart), and a brother, Bart F. Hamilton (Frances). She is survived by her two nieces, Darlene Derrow (Mickey) and Carol Bowles (Sandy), and two nephews, Larry Hamilton (Vicki) and Tommy Hamilton (Karen). She is also survived by her two special and devoted friends of over 60 years, Ruby Wright and Joyce Slaydon as well as her two Godsons, Wesley and Robert Perdue and their mother, Brenda. Other surviving and special friends include, Inas, Jerry and Kathleen Loan, Emma (Dudes), Rick and Karen Donahue, Len, Christy, Neil and Jacob Ricketts, her Smith Family (Phyllis, Brenda, Karen, Jennifer, and Stephanie), Don Adams, Geneva (Sis) and Jack Abbott, special friends, Trish (Pat) Hawley, Vicki Abbitt, Karen Spears, and her very special neighbors, Jackie and Patti Cabiness, along with her many special "Wright Family" friends and loving friends, Don and Joyce Wertz. Also surviving is her "special kitty" Daisy Mae, and her South Roanoke Nursing Home Family where she taught Sunday school for several years. She will be sadly missed by everyone. Agnes was a member of Belmont Baptist Church and a dedicated employee of Elizabeth Arden (Eli Lillly) where she retired after over 25 years of service. The family would like to thank her doctors, and nurses on the 8th and 10th floors at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for their special care. Flowers are appreciated or you may give to a charity of your choice in the memory of Agnes. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2015 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by Pastor David (Mickey) Derrow. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park.
