Dorothy S. "Dot" Jennings, 88, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, March 14, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband James H. Jennings, a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Robert Bowles, as well as her parents William and Ellen Saul, and her brothers and sisters. Dot was a member of Northview United Methodist Church. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Dexter Helton; grandchildren, Dexter Helton, Jr. and wife Teresa, James Helton and wife Cheryl, Kimberly Easter and husband Robert, Brian Booth and wife Angela; great grandchildren, Cheyene Harley and husband Brandon, Aeriel, Sierra, Amber and Erin Helton; step great grandson, Michael Houseman; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bruce and Glenda Jennings. The family offers a special thank you to Dot's devoted caregivers Barbara Grimes and Betty Hubbard, and the staff of Amedysis Hospice for their many acts of kindness and compassion. Funeral services will be conducted noon Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by Chaplain Troy Mays. A graveside service will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Highland Memory Gardens Dublin, Virginia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
