Obituary of Jacqueline Fischer

Jacqueline Hadley Fischer, of Roanoke, was born on November 7, 1925, went to be with her Lord and Savior and the open arms of her loving husband of 65 years, Llewellyn, on Thursday, April 5, 2012. Jackie is survived by her three children, Carol Turner and husband, Tommy, of Troutville, Stephen Fischer, of Pembroke, and Gloria Fischer, of Roanoke; special daughter, Marie Nichols of Blue Ridge. Grandma will be missed, probably more than she could ever have imagined, by 11 grandchildren and 20 great- grandchildren. Jackie spent the first half of her adult life as the textbook example of the traditional stay at home loving mother, homemaker and supportive housewife. Once all the children had left the nest and my father retired to embark on a second career, Jackie continued to be her husband's helpmate by assisting him in his role working with the Presbytery as well as his assistant in getting WVFT 27 licensed and on air. Momma was also very active in numerous church sponsored women's groups for well over the past 60 years. All of Mamma's family knew the level of love that she and my dad had for one another; and we have all been able to find some comfort in Momma's passing through her strong faith and deep spiritual beliefs that she and my dad would be together again for all eternity; with the added embrace of their Heavenly Father. There will be a "Celebration of Life" ceremony at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at New Life Christian Ministries on Airport Road.
