Obituary of Frank Walter Drobot

Please share a memory of Frank to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Frank was born August 16, 1954, in Hammond, Ind., lived in three parts of California, went to high school in New Jersey and attended college in Phoenix (ASU), New Jersey (New Jersey Institute of Technology-Bachelor's Degree in Architecture) and Pittsburg (Carnegie Mellon University) where he received a Master's Degree in Architecture. Frank was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor January 2014. He entered the Kingdom of Heaven with grace, peace and dignity March 2, 2015. Frank asked Sheila Frame for their first date on Valentine's Day 1990. They were married November 30, 1991. Theirs was a union of joy, exploration and respect. It was evident to all their friends they were soul mates and best friends. They will be remembered as the couple who knew how to dress for costume parties. They took dancing lessons throughout their marriage (Frank's idea-Sheila was already an excellent dancer.) He had a long career as an architect-first in Beckley, W.Va., where he was employed by SEM Partners Inc. and then by the State of West Virginia as a staff architect. His projects included restoration of the capitol dome. After relocating to Roanoke, Frank was employed by HSMM Inc. where he was Construction Contract Administrator and LRG of Richmond, as Project Manager. Frank had a long interest in music. While in Beckley he learned to play several stringed instruments (banjo, bazookie and mandolin) Frank and Sheila also learned to play the lap dulcimer and played in several musical groups. They greatly enjoyed attending music festivals and concerts. Fitting – as their first date was to a John Prine concert. Frank was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Carolyn Woods Drobot. Frank is survived by his wife, Sheila Frame Drobot; his sisters, Jane Drobot (Mill Valley, Calif.) and Ruth Drobot Moore (Tucson, Ariz.). Services will be held Saturday March 21, 2015, at the Second Presbyterian Church, (214 Mountain Ave., Roanoke, VA 24016) at Noon. Instead of flowers, donations may be made to Second Presbyterian Church of Roanoke "Bibles and Bricks" program. Services handled by Simpson Funeral Home, 540-366-0707.
