Melvin Leslie Hutchinson, Sr. 64, of New Castle went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, February 22, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Buford and Annie Hutchinson, and an infant sister, Curtis Hutchinson. Melvin was a former employee of Roanoke Electric Steel and retired from Roanoke Cement. He was a member of First Baptist Church of New Castle, an avid outdoorsman and a lover of Harley Davidson Motorcycles. Surviving are his wife, Becky Furrow Hutchinson; children, Melvin Leslie Hutchinson, Jr. and wife Cathy, Marcy Carroll and husband Kenneth, Jessica Bradford and Jesse, Jennifer Furrow and Brad Bowles, Jodi Caldwell and David Keesee; grandchildren, Austin and Aaron Underwood, Jacob Bradford, Tammy Waldron, Isaac and Katlyn Caldwell, Makailah and Heather Carroll; brother, Roy Hutchinson; sisters, Marie Looney, Virginia Compton, and Louise Hutchinson; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at First Baptist Church New Castle by Pastor Kevin Altizer. Interment will be private.
