Obituary of Ray Donald Lee

Ray Donald Lee, 85, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord Saturday, February 21, 2015. He was born May 18, 1929 in Fincastle, a son of the late Dennis and Viney Lee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Helen White Lee, a sister, Dorothy Lee Hedrick and a granddaughter, Laura Lee. Mr. Lee was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. His family was the center of his life. He was a faithful husband who took care of his wife for many years. He was a devoted father and grandfather, giving guidance, encouragement and inspiration. His willingness to go the extra mile and put others before himself gained the respect of family members, friends, and co-workers. His friendly smile, gentle manner, and witty sayings will be remembered by the lives he has touched. He retired from Lone Star Cement which is currently Roanoke Cement. Surviving are his daughter, Brenda Hudgins and husband Mark; son, Michael Lee and fiancé Lisa Winters; grandchildren, Michele and Timothy Hudgins, Hunter and Dennis Lee; great grandson, Dexter Coleman; extended family, Madison and Mitch Winters; brother-in-law, Robert White and wife Shirley; sister-in-law, Frances McLain; nieces, nephews, and a special friend, Virginia Hedrick. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by Pastor Herb Schaffer. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
