Larry K. Shockley, 62, of Roanoke, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 26, 2015. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Tip C. and Della D. Shockley and his sister, Carolyn Shockley. Larry worked as a dental technician and was a member of the Gene Thomas band. He and a group of friends formed the band, City Lights.Larry is survived by his brothers, Harold Shockley and wife, Diana of Forest and Gary Shockley and wife, Dianne of Roanoke; sister Barbara Hightower and husband Olen of Seneca, SC; half-brother, Perry W. Shockley of Winston-Salem, NC; as well as several nieces and nephews and special longtime friend, Doug Thurman.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Carilion Lights of Love, care of Carilion Clinic Foundation, P.O. Box 12187, Roanoke, VA 24023 in Larry's honor.Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road in Roanoke with Pastor Olen E. Hightower officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at Simpson Funeral Home.
