Obituary of William Dyer Webb

William D. (Bill) Webb, 66, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, January 24, 2015. He was one of eight children born to Warren Q. and Nila Obediah Shockley Webb. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Quentin Ray Webb. Bill was a 1966 graduate of Hillsville High School and served in the U S Air Force during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Bill worked for several companies as a successful merchandise manager. Two of those companies were Save-A-Stop and the Jack Eckerd Drug Company. He later retired from A B Wholesale of Bluefield, Virginia. His hobbies included his love of tennis, basketball, camping and anything to do with the outdoors. He was devoted to his family and the best husband, father, and grandfather that anyone could wish for. Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Donna Nichols Webb; son, Christopher Brian Webb and wife Katheryn; daughter, Tammy Kay Spangler and husband Eric; grandchildren, Corey Taylor Webb, Kayleigh Briann Webb, and Jake Ryan Spangler; brothers, Ernest W. Webb and wife Zenna, Glenn D. Webb, Robert E. Webb and wife Sheila, and Terry E. Webb; sisters, Elsie Alderman, and Carolyn Giannini; numerous nieces , nephews, cousins and his devoted fur babies, Mingo and Scooter. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff with Gentle Shepherd Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion provided during Bill's illness. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society 2840 Electric Road Roanoke, Va. 24018. A celebration of Bill's life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road.
