Obituary of Ronald Eldridge Weeks

Ronald Eldridge Weeks, 80, of Salem went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, January 13, 2015. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Harvey Lee and Viola Watkins Weeks, six sisters and one brother. Mr. Weeks served in the U S Navy aboard the USS Ranger, retiring as a Chief Gunners Mate. He later retired as a waste water supervisor for the City of Orlando, Florida. After retiring in Orlando he and his wife made the decision to return home to the mountains here in Roanoke. He was an avid craftsman and woodworker. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Geraldine E. Weeks; sons, Dirk Allen Weeks, David Wade Weeks and wife Janett, Rick Edney Weeks and wife Kim; granddaughters, Brandi Higginbotham and husband Dallas, Brittni Hassell and husband Sterling, Alexa and Magan Edney; great granddaughter, Alexandria Jane Higginbotham; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted noon Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Troy Mays. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
