Obituary of Nancy Ellen Kinder

Nancy E. Kinder, of Roanoke, with her family and friends by her side passed away on January 11, 2015. Nancy was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Jack P. Kinder; her mother Mary Frances Gray; stepson, Michael Edwards; and stepdaughter, Tricia McClain. Mrs. Kinder retired from Henebry’s Jewelers after 15 years of service, and then went to work at B&D Lock for seven years. Her kindness and sense of humor affected many people when she worked, that even after she retired many became longtime friends and kept in touch regularly especially after Jack’s passing. She is survived by her brother Gaines Gray, of Gainesville, FL; brother-in-law, Tome Sellers, Kingsport, TN; special nieces Frances Walley, Charlotte, NC; Cindy McGuire, Kingsport, TN; and her confidant and dear friend Jeff Thomas, who stepped in as Nancy’s caretaker when Jack passed. Friends and neighbors: Linda Wilkerson, Nadine Garland, Mike and Roxann Martin, Vince and Pat Dickerson, and Lloyd Miller. Besides her family and friends, she loved animals and supported the ASPCA. She loved spoiling her canine companion, Annie and all of Annie’s playmates. Nancy thoroughly enjoyed doggie daycare days when all the neighborhood pups came to her home to play with Annie. Nancy and her treats will be greatly missed by Maya, Precious, Peanut, Kimber, Abbey, and Crickett. Special thanks to Ruth, Mara, and Marcie from Good Samaritan for their love, support, patience and compassion during our time of need.
