Obituary of Charles William Slover

Charles William “Sluggo” Slover 75 of Blue Ridge, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Wednesday January 7, 2015. His parents, John and Debie C. Slover preceded him. Mr. Slover was a member and served as an Usher at Roanoke Valley Cathedral of Praise for many years. He worked for Nelson Roanoke Hardware for 30 years, and finished his working career as a Security Guard for Securitas Security. As a teen, he enjoyed being a DJ for school dances and activities. In his free time, he enjoyed being an avid Tennessee Volunteers’ fan and Refereeing most sports in Botetourt County. “Sluggo” as everyone knew him as, never met a stranger, and is a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 47 years, Frances; their daughter, Alicia Hall and her husband, Eddie of Florida; two grandchildren, Richard and Ashley Hall; special cousins, Pam and Scott Roberts of Hampton, Virginia; numerous, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews; four sisters-in-law, Naomi Gibbs and husband Arvin of St. Albans, WV., Loretta Gibson and husband Doug of Vinton, Esther Millirons and husband George, Jr. of Moneta, Pricilla Agee of Roanoke; along with a host of other relatives and friends, and his two loyal friends, Josie and Cocoa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Roanoke Valley Cathedral of Praise, 8100 Angel Lane, Roanoke, Virginia 24019 in his memory. A service celebrating Mr. Slover’s life will be held 1:00pm Saturday January 10, 2015 at the Roanoke Valley Cathedral of Praise with Pastor Harry Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Glade Creek Cemetery. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service Saturday January 10, 2015 at the church
