Anita C. "Cookie" Byrd, 57, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, December 24, 2014. She was preceded in death by her mother, Katherine Preston Alexander, husband Michael Dwyane Byrd, and grandmother, Sylvia Bond Perkins. She was a former employee of ITT and the Precision Fabric Group and a graduate of William Fleming High School. Surviving are her children, Jason Byrd, Amanda Byrd and husband Terrance Hardy; father, Charles Finney; grandchildren, Nevaeh Katherine Hardy, Sincere Lesane Hardy, Michael Dwyane Byrd; sisters, Rita Williams and husband Ike, Brenda Reynolds and Tom Greco; brother, William Eppling and wife Cindy; and devoted pets, Tinkerbell and Pinkey. The family would like to offer a special thanks the the many friends and extended family members for their many acts of kindness during Cookie's illness. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the family. A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2014 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road.
