To the Bridger Family,
My Condolences go out to you all. I didn't find out until recently that Mr. Bridger had
passed. Mr. Bridger took a chance and hired me back in 1975 and I will be forever grateful to him for giving me my chance on the Railroad. On many occasions he sat me down and gave me advice that I carried throughout my Railroad Career. I thank him for what he meant to me in my Career and I thank you for the Love and Support you, as a family gave to a Dear friend and Mentor. My Prayers are with you.

My mother, Nellie Jennings Hatridge and I were sorry to hear of your loss. I have wonderful memories of visiting your grandparents as a child and have a cherished afghan that your grandmother crocheted for me for my wedding. Mama speaks of your family so often and has the highest regards for "Bill Bridger." She always says his two names as one! We wish you all comfort during this time and that you will feel God's presence.

Special memory of Bill Bridger~~
When I was still in high school, Bill and I rode the train to St. Louis to see Wally Moon and the Cardinals play baseball. Bill had played baseball with Wally, and Wally had gotten us some very good seats, also he came over and visited with us before and after the game. In the background we heard someone say they must be "big shots" from Arkansas....What a good laugh Bill had from this remark. It was a trip I have never forgotten. Bill was a very special cousin to me. His fun and laughter will remain with me forever. May God give his precious family grace during this difficult time of their lives.

ive heard many stories over the years of my dad living with Bill and Hettie when he was younger. My dad thought highly of Bill. Daddy loved to talk and reminense over the phone in long conversations with Bill. We always laugh when we hear the raisin bran story. Bill offered daddy Raison bran for breakfast on a visit. There were no raisins and when Bill asked Hettie about them she said well I just like the raisins. So on the next visit he had box of extra raisins so they would be sure to have some for the cereal. Our thoughts are with Hettie and the family on this day and many days to come. Love to all...Merle and family

I worked for Mr. Bridger as Asst. To the Trainmaster, Asst. Trainmaster and finally as Trainmaster, Martinsville, VA. I also believe he was responsible for me being promoted to Asst. Superintendent, Scioto Division, Portsmouth, OH.
I always found him to be a perfect gentleman and one of the hardest working supervisors I ever worked for.
My wife Susan and I are very sorry for your loss.

I was very saddened to read of Bill's passing in the newspaper this morning.
I recall with great affection my childhood neighbors in Brookland. Arkansas.
My father died a few years ago on virtually the same date and so I know how this impacts the holidays with a particular sense of poignancy.
Even as a young boy I was able to recognize Bill and Hattie Alice as an example of what an attractive and happy couple should be.
My deepest condolences to all his family and many friends. John V.

I was saddened to hear about the loss of Bill. You guys have always had a special place in my heart. I will always remember the times I spent at your house as a small child. You guys where our family while we missed ours so bad back in Jonesboro. I bet I followed Darin a million miles on his old mini bike ! I bet I probably remember more detail than you guys but that is because you did mean that much to us. Wish I knew what else to say but I never have been good at loss. Love you guys and hope to see you in the near future.
Sincerely,
Eric

I consider myself very fortunate to have met Bill and Hettie. They are both such loving, caring people, I enjoyed spending time with them. You could tell Bill was a proud man, and had every right to be. His stories of his life, and family exuded the love and pride he felt. I loved to hear how he and Hettie met, and it was evident even after all those years the love was still there. Last year, we rode around Roanoke looking at Christmas lights. We had such a good time. This year, we will say goodbye to Bill, and look up for his never ending light. To all of the family, I'm so very sorry for your loss.

Jim & Brenda, I am so very sorry for your lost. It is hard to live without the Rock of the family, but God will pull you all through. Just know he is not suffering and he had no pain. He's in a place that we all would want to go too when it's our time, Heaven. Comfort each other and share your stories of this great man your father.
God bless and keep you all.

Thinking of you all and praying the Lord will provide comfort to you as only He can. The obituary nailed it in telling what a great storyteller Uncle Bill was and we were actually talking about this and some hunting stories he had shared with us a few years ago with vivid details. Sending our love from Georgia.
