Obituary of James E. Burnette

James E. Burnette of Covington passed away Monday December 15, 2014 at his home. He was born January 2, 1933 in Bedford County, the son of the late Moorman and Mary Burnette. He was preceded in death by his brother, Moorman W. Burnette, Jr. and his wife, Patsy; sister-in-law, Rebecca Bowden and brother-in-law, Steve Pyle.
Mr. Burnette was a member of Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church and was a United States Air Force veteran. He retired from MeadWestvaco Corporation with 38 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Helen Pyle Burnette; a daughter, Kathy L. Caldwell and husband, David of Roanoke; a grandson, Morgan Caldwell and wife, Amber of Roanoke; sister-in-law, Dana P. Swoope and husband, Max; a niece, Stephanie Persinger and nephew, Mark Burnette.
A graveside service celebrating James’s life will be held in Alleghany Memorial Park with Rev. James M. Smith officiating on Thursday December 18, 2014 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church or charity of choice.
