Gilbert A. (Gil) Mackey, 78, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 2, 2014. He was preceded in death by a brother Sonny Mackey. Mr. Mackey retired as an inspector with General Motors. Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Doris W. Mackey, brother, John Mackey and wife Marge of Woodstock, Maryland; sisters, Pat Quinlin and husband Dale of Dundalk, Maryland; Marion Andrews of Madison, Alabama; brothers-in-law, Floyd Welch and wife Jessie of Roanoke; Henry Lee Welch and wife Jean of Vinton; and step father-in-law, John Hartman. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m Friday, December 5, 2014 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by Pastor Don Shepherd. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
