Alfred (Al) Moughton, 83, of Roanoke passed away Sunday, November 9, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Agnes Cowin Moughton, two sisters, Edith Porcello and Cecelia Murray, and an infant grandson, John Michael Moughton. Al was a graduate of Ohio State University where he received a B. S. degree in Industrial Engineering. He retired as a systems analyst with Union Carbide after 37 years of service. He was an active member of Peace Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Ruth Vandemark Moughton; children, Barbara and Christine Moughton, Richard Moughton and wife Virginia, David Moughton and wife Lynette, and Wendy Bacon and husband Todd; grandchildren, Katherine Moughton, Rebecca Richey, Samuel and Thomas Moughton, Cassie Bacon, Timothy Moughton, and Carter and Joseph Bacon.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to Read Mountain Rescue Squad.

A celebration of Al's life will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road with Pastors Stuart Revercomb and Don Chichester officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
