Earl Williams, 90, of Blue Ridge passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren David and Virginia Via Williams; brother, Jack: and beloved sister, Juanita Miles. Mr. Williams served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He retired from American Bridge, division of U.S. Steel. He was a member of Glade Creek Baptist Church. He enjoyed many years of golfing and playing bridge. Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Dorothy Williams; son, John Williams and wife, Margo, of Roanoke; stepdaughter, Sheryl Beatty, of Spring, Texas; grandchildren, Whitney, Caroline, and Brad Williams; and a niece, Joyce Dixon, of Roanoke. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Glade Creek Baptist Church, 3148 Webster Road, Blue Ridge, Va 24064. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2012, at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, by Dr. Phillip Ayers. A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday in Birchlawn Memorial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Simpson Funeral Home. 540-366-0707.
