Shelton Lewis Clary 85 of Roanoke went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 18, 2011. Mr. Lewis was raised by his step mother, who he adored, Nora Cannon Clary. He was a master carpenter and retired from Rowe Furniture after many years of service and was a member of Oakland Baptist Church. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 62 years Mary Jane Clary; children, step daughter, Loisellen Barlow, son, Alexander Ballard Smith Clary, daughter, Shelly Clary Clement; grandchildren, Michael, Sara, Jonathan, Allison, Caitlyn, Lauren, Callie and Cameron; three great grandchildren; four sisters, Lucille Lewis, Margret Mills, Ruth Walker, Pearl Watson and husband Toby and a host of other relatives and friends. The family would like to give their sincerest gratitude to the staff of 4 Main at Friendship Manor, and Good Samaritan Hospice for their care and support during this difficult time. Flowers are welcomed and also donations may be made in his name to the ASPCA or Good Samaritan Hospice. A memorial service celebrating Mr. Clary's life will be held 1:00pm Thursday, September 22, 2011. Friends may visit with the family an hour before the service. Inurnment will be private. Arrangements handled by Simpson Funeral Home and Crematory, 366-0707.
