Obituary of Ross Harris

On August 29, 2011, Ross C. Harris, Jr. 80 of Roanoke went to the haven of rest with his Lord.
Russ was a 20 year USAF retired veteran and also retired from the Roanoke City School Maintenance Dept with 20 years service.
Surviving are his loving wife of over 52 years, Janet "Jan" Harris; son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Marla Harris; granddaughter and her husband, Amber and Al Spahr; great grandson, Jesse Spahr; a close family friend, Linda Stinchcomb; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary and Steve Sowards; half brothers and sister-in-law, Jerry and Jane Hale and Jimmy "Shorty" Hale; half sister and brother-in-law, Jo and Gary Moorefield; several nieces and nephews.
Family requests in lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association in Ross's memory.
Friends may visit with the family Thursday, September 1, 2011 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00pm at Simpson Funeral Home and Crematory. A service celebrating Ross's life will be held 7:30pm Friday, September 2, 2011 at the funeral home with Pastor Eddie Dean and Pastor Tom Bonn officiating. Inurnment will be private.
