Doris Newsome Russomano of Roanoke passed away Friday, July 8, 2011. Doris was born on February 18, 1919 in Emporia, Virginia a daughter of the late Joseph and Edwa (Rawlings) Newsome. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Joseph (Russ) Russomano and sisters, Elma, Anna, Alyse, and Ida; brothers, Howard, Wallace, Robert and Thomas. She is survived by the best grandchildren in the world, granddaughter and caregiver, Emily Newberry of Roanoke; twin grandsons, Wythe Newberry of Charlotte; Stuart Newberry and wife Jenna of Huntersville, NC; daughter and son in law, Denise and Richard Newberry of Charlotte; loving nieces, Betty Rash, Faye Green and De Ette Mixson of Newport News, VA; Barbara Phillips of Jarrett, Va. and very special nephews, Eugene Allen and wife Martha of Emporia; Bonnie and wife Anne Marie of PA. Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation or to St. Judes Research Hospital. Funeral mass will be conducted noon Monday, July 11, 2011 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church by Monsignor Thomas Miller. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive freinds from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. 366-0707
