Mary Ann Brooks Clayman, 79, of Roanoke passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucian and Josie Brooks, daughter, Bette Clayman and son-in-law, Kelley Arnold. Mary Ann was a devoted wife and mother with a special love of animals and music. Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Paul Clayman, daughters, Lori Arnold, Brenda (Terry) Gump, Joni (Tracy) Poff; son, Steven Clayman and partner Mary Jane; grandchildren, Marijo and Samantha Mitchell, Brooke Altizer, Joshua Bishop, Zachary and Kendall Clayman, Taylor Poff and Seth Arnold; great grandchildren, Jessica Ashley, Jacob Morris, Kylie Altizer, Troy Paschal, and Grant Clayman; special friend, June Clark; and devoted pets, Molly and Chase. A special thanks to Bea, Hubert, and the entire staff at Avante' of Roanoke for the excellent care provided during Mary Ann's illness. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association or the American Cancer Society. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2011 in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road.
