Freddie Douglas Jefferson, 71, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, June 8, 2011. He was born October 23, 1939 in Halifax County, Virginia a son of the late Willie Jefferson. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Beulah Bond. Mr. Jefferson retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation. He was an avid sports fan with a special love for hockey, Nascar, and football. His hobbies included carpentry, gardening, and fixing anything that was broken. Surviving are his mother, Eula Jefferson of Keysville, Va.; brother, Phillip (Ellen) Jefferson of Charlotte Courthouse, Va.; numerous grandchilden and great grandchildren including special granddaughters, Laura Shaw, and Jessica (Henry) Martin; and special great grandsons, Noah and Micah Shaw; step children, Frank (Janet) Bond; Esther (Francis) Cirasunda, Michael (Kathy) Bond, Samuel (Doris) Bond and Debra Baldwin. A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by Pastor John Collins.
