Obituary of Jack DeHart

Jack L. DeHart, 76, of Salem, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, June 5, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tipton and Nellie Jones DeHart, brothers, George (Bay) and Lee DeHart; and son-in-law, Charles R. Wright Jr. Jack was a member of Beacon Baptist Church and worked as a contract hauler for Old Virginia Brick Company for almost 50 years. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Sylvia A. DeHart; daughters, Darla Ebert and husband, Dr. Bill Ebert, Missionaries in the Philippines; Karen Jones and husband, Rev. Adrian Jones, of Kingston, Tenn.; Lori Martin and husband, Jay, of Salem; grandchildren, April Troyer and husband, Benjamin, Teri Pardue and husband, Stephen, Billy Ebert II, Kari Williamson and husband, Eric, Jaimie Jones and Jonathan Jones, Drew Wright and wife, Melinda; stepgrandchildren, Carissa and Jeff Brown, Aaron Martin, and Lindsey Martin; greatgrandchildren, Ava, Lucy, and Simon Pardue, Benjamin Troyer II and Daniel Williamson; sisters, Doris Epperly and husband, Linwood, of Elliston; Betty Pence and husband, Billy, of Roanoke; brother, Donnie DeHart and wife, Kathy, of Roanoke; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Beacon Baptist Church, 307 N. Bruffy Street, Salem, VA 24153. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, by the Rev. Don Woodard. Interment will follow in Epperly Family Cemetery, Elliston, Va. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Simpson Funeral Home.
