Obituary of Larry Tobias

[Photo] Larry D. Tobias, 50, of Roanoke, and formerly of Goldsboro, N.C., passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2011. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Tobias; grandmother, Anna Beers; and grandfather, John Deetz. He is survivied by his mother, Mary Jane Tobias, of Pikeville, N.C.; his daughter, Brittany Tobias, of Roanoke; two grandchildren; brother, Steven Tobias, of Goldsboro, N.C.; aunts, Sharon Beers, of LaGrange, N.C. and Debbie Deetz, of Dania, Fla. Special thanks to his friends Page Marshall, Grandin Van Marter, and Renee Mitchell. Larry held a true appreciation for rock music, with a special interest in the base guitar. He could answer virtually any music trivia question and loved learning about world geography. His beloved and spoiled rotten dog, Brownie, will surely miss him. Larry was always the first to crack a joke or plan an innocent prank, whatever it took to bring a smile to your face. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2011, at Simpson Funeral Home, 540-366-0707. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Roanoke SPCA.
