Ellett L. Sloane, 44, of Roanoke passed away Monday, March 5, 2012. He was preceded in death by his father Billy C. Sloane. Ellett was a 1985 graduate of Northside High School and attended Virginia Western Community College. He was an extremely talented musician and worked as a locomotive engineer with Norfolk Southern. Surviving are his son, Nicholas Sloane; mother, Peggy M. Sloane; brothers and sister-in-law, Daniel E. Sloane and wife Janet; Joel M. Sloane; sisters, Holly R. Sloane and Cyndi Sloane Croft; nephews, Zac Croft and Isaac Sloane, niece, Emma Sloane; and great niece Laura Croft. A special thank you to Cheryl Hudson, Shawn Long, and all of Ellett's friends for their many acts of kindness, love and support during his illness. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society 2840 Electric Road Roanoke, Virginia 24018. A celebration of life will be conducted 1 p.m Friday, March 9, 2012 at Southview United Methodist Church by Pastor Larry Edmonds. The family will receive friends following the service.
