James C. Kearns, Jr. 75, of Buchanan passed away Friday, April 22, 2011 in Richmond, Va.. Mr. Kearns was retired from Chandler Concrete. Mr. Kearns served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps. He was preceded in death by a son, John Kearns. Surviving are his children, Jimmy C. Kearns, of Roanoke; Sargent Kearns of Blue Ridge; Janice Weaver, Betty Joan Kearns both of Troutville; Melinda Thomas of Richmond; grandchildren, Zachary Kearns, Summer Joslin, Jordan Kearns, and Joey Kearns; great grandchild, Sean Joslin; brother, Willard Kearns of Mississippi. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2011 in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. 366-0707
